PlateProfile Labs LLC (“PlateProfile,” “Company,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide our Services, comply with applicable law, protect our legal interests, resolve disputes, maintain security, and fulfill legitimate business purposes.
This Data Retention & Deletion Policy explains how long information is generally retained and how deletion requests are handled. This Policy supplements our Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and other applicable PlateProfile policies.
PlateProfile seeks to retain information only:
● for as long as necessary to operate the Services;
● to comply with legal obligations;
● to resolve disputes;
● to enforce agreements;
● to detect and prevent fraud;
● to maintain security;
● to improve the Services where permitted by law; and
● for other legitimate business purposes.
When information is no longer reasonably necessary, it is deleted, anonymized, or otherwise securely disposed of where practical.
Depending upon how you use PlateProfile, retained information may include:
● account information;
● profile information;
● dietary preferences;
● allergy and intolerance information;
● meal history;
● saved meals;
● grocery lists;
● Pantry information;
● Restaurant Mode activity;
● customer support communications;
● billing records;
● technical logs;
● device information;
● security records; and
● other information described in our Privacy Policy.
Users may request deletion of their PlateProfile account through the application or by contacting support. After receiving a valid deletion request, PlateProfile will make commercially reasonable efforts to delete or anonymize personal information that is no longer required to be retained. Deletion may not occur immediately and may require a reasonable processing period.
Certain information may be retained after account deletion where reasonably necessary to:
● comply with legal obligations;
● satisfy tax or accounting requirements;
● resolve disputes;
● detect fraud;
● investigate security incidents;
● enforce contractual rights;
● protect the safety and integrity of the Services; or
● comply with lawful governmental requests.
Where possible, retained information will be limited to what is reasonably necessary for those purposes.
Copies of information may remain in secure backup systems for a limited period after deletion. Backup information is retained solely for disaster recovery, business continuity, and security purposes and is removed or overwritten according to normal backup retention schedules. Backup data is not ordinarily restored except when operationally necessary.
PlateProfile may retain information that has been anonymized or de-identified so that it can no longer reasonably be associated with an identifiable individual. Anonymized information may be used for:
● product improvement;
● service analytics;
● recommendation quality evaluation;
● statistical reporting;
● system performance monitoring; and
● other lawful business purposes.
If PlateProfile reasonably believes information is relevant to pending or anticipated litigation, regulatory inquiries, audits, investigations, or other legal proceedings, deletion may be delayed until those matters have concluded.
PlateProfile seeks to securely dispose of deleted information using commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information and applicable technologies.
Users are encouraged to:
● download any information they wish to retain before requesting account deletion;
● maintain current contact information while a deletion request is pending; and
● notify PlateProfile promptly if a deletion request was submitted in error.
PlateProfile may update this Data Retention & Deletion Policy to reflect:
● changes in our Services;
● operational improvements;
● technological developments;
● legal requirements;
● regulatory guidance; or
● other legitimate business needs.
The Effective Date above indicates the most recent revision.

This Data Retention & Deletion Policy remains effective until amended or replaced by a subsequent version. If any provision of this Policy is determined to be invalid or unenforceable under applicable law, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect to the fullest extent permitted by law.
