1. PURPOSE

PlateProfile Labs LLC (“PlateProfile,” “Company,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to developing and operating artificial intelligence systems responsibly.

This AI Transparency & Responsible AI Policy explains the principles that guide the design, operation, improvement, and governance of PlateProfile’s artificial intelligence systems, including the AI Recommendation Engine.

Our goal is to provide users with clear information about how our artificial intelligence assists with meal recommendations while promoting transparency, user trust, privacy, and responsible innovation.

This Policy should be read together with the PlateProfile Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and Washington Consumer Health Data Notice.

2. OUR AI PHILOSOPHY

PlateProfile was created to answer one practical question:

“What should I eat now?”

Our artificial intelligence is designed to assist—not replace—human judgment.

Rather than generating random meal suggestions, PlateProfile seeks to provide personalized recommendations based upon information voluntarily provided by users and interactions with the Services.

Our objective is continuous improvement while respecting user privacy, promoting user control, and maintaining appropriate safeguards.

3. HOW THE AI RECOMMENDATION ENGINE WORKS

PlateProfile’s AI Recommendation Engine evaluates numerous factors that may include:

  • dietary preferences;
  • food allergies;
  • food intolerances;
  • food dislikes;
  • favorite foods;
  • nutrition goals;
  • accepted recommendations;
  • rejected recommendations;
  • meal history;
  • saved meals;
  • ingredient substitutions;
  • grocery information;
  • Pantry Features;
  • Restaurant Mode interactions;
  • contextual information;
  • time of day;
  • previous user interactions; and
  • other personalization signals available to the system.

Not every recommendation considers every available factor.

The importance assigned to individual factors may change as the AI Recommendation Engine evolves.

4. CONTINUOUS LEARNING

PlateProfile is designed to improve recommendations over time.

Depending upon user activity, the system may learn from:

  • accepted meals;
  • rejected meals;
  • ingredient substitutions;
  • changing preferences;
  • saved meals;
  • dietary updates;
  • restaurant selections;
  • grocery selections;
  • pantry usage;
  • historical interactions; and
  • other lawful personalization signals.

Learning is intended to improve recommendation quality rather than permanently locking users into previous choices.

Users remain free to change preferences at any time.

5. WHAT OUR AI DOES NOT DO

PlateProfile’s artificial intelligence is not intended to:

  • diagnose disease;
  • provide medical advice;
  • replace healthcare professionals;
  • prescribe diets;
  • guarantee nutritional outcomes;
  • guarantee weight loss;
  • guarantee allergy avoidance;
  • predict future health conditions;
  • provide emergency assistance; or
  • make decisions on behalf of users.

Users remain responsible for exercising independent judgment and verifying recommendations before acting upon them.

6. USER CONTROL

PlateProfile believes users should remain in control of their experience.

Users may:

  • update dietary preferences;
  • modify allergies;
  • change food dislikes;
  • change nutrition goals;
  • manage Pantry Features;
  • update restaurant preferences;
  • accept recommendations;
  • reject recommendations;
  • request new recommendations;
  • delete saved information; and
  • request deletion of their Account.

User input plays an important role in recommendation quality.

7. FAIRNESS

PlateProfile seeks to design recommendation systems that provide relevant and personalized suggestions based upon user-selected preferences.

Our goal is to avoid recommendations that intentionally favor or disadvantage individuals based upon characteristics unrelated to meal recommendations.

We continually evaluate opportunities to improve recommendation quality, consistency, and user satisfaction.

8. PRIVACY

PlateProfile’s AI systems operate in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Information used by the AI Recommendation Engine is processed only for legitimate business purposes, including:

  • providing recommendations;
  • improving personalization;
  • improving recommendation quality;
  • improving safety;
  • maintaining security;
  • preventing fraud;
  • supporting customer service;
  • improving system performance; and
  • developing future functionality.

PlateProfile does not sell Personal Information for artificial intelligence training.

9. HUMAN OVERSIGHT

Artificial intelligence assists users but does not replace human decision-making.

Users should independently verify:

  • ingredients;
  • allergens;
  • restaurant preparation methods;
  • nutritional information;
  • grocery availability;
  • serving sizes; and
  • other information relevant to their individual needs.

PlateProfile encourages users to consult qualified healthcare professionals regarding medical or nutritional decisions.

10. ACCURACY & LIMITATIONS

Artificial intelligence recommendations are probabilistic rather than deterministic.

Recommendations may change over time as:

  • user preferences evolve;
  • software improves;
  • statistical models improve;
  • machine learning systems improve;
  • available information changes;
  • restaurant information changes;
  • grocery availability changes; or
  • additional personalization signals become available.

PlateProfile cannot guarantee that every recommendation will satisfy every personal preference or dietary circumstance.

11. SECURITY

PlateProfile applies commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to help protect information used by our AI systems.

Security measures may include:

  • Encrypted communications;
  • Access controls;
  • Authentication;
  • Infrastructure monitoring;
  • Security logging;
  • Fraud detection;
  • Incident response procedures;
